I am a HS sophomore, and hopefully will be applying for MT BFA programs in the future. This year, though, I am doing a research paper on the socioeconomic obstacles students face when applying for Theatre or MT BFA programs. I was hoping a couple of you might have a couple minutes to answer the questions below (forwarding to me by message if you'd like to keep answers private). Or even if you'd just like to answer just a few of them?
How many BA/BFA programs did you apply for?
How many audition trips did you make including Unifieds?
Do you have a counselor at school?
If yes, how helpful was that counselor to your college application process?
Does your school offer any help for students who cannot afford applications/ travel fees/ etc?
Did you participate in any theatre related extracurricular activities in middle or high school or both?
My paper is on the socioeconomic obstacles students face when applying for BFA programs. So if you don't want to answer these financial questions, I understand, but that's why I'm asking.
How much, estimate, did you spend on audition trips?
Did you film your own prescreens or did you hire someone to film them?
How much did you spend on applications?
How much did you spend on your total college application and audition process?
What have you noticed being done by the universities to help mitigate any income issues with admission?
What do you think could be done to help (if you think something should or could be done)?
Thank you all so much!
