Point park
Anyone know when point park notifies about MT decisions? Also do they consider your audition for both acting and MT or just one? Are there call backs after that audition on campus?

Belmont in Nashville?
Does anyone have info on Belmont or any experience there? I read that they have a great crossover program between VP and MT, but there's not a separate board here for it or much discussion about it.
TIA!

What songs seemed overdone at auditions this year?
I have read all the "overdone" and "do not sing" lists. I'm a voice teacher, and I am wondering what the trends were this year--so, those of you who auditioned, what did you hear through the door more than once? 'Astonishing' plus...what?

Question re: Cincinnati area MT training/performance opportunities
Hello fellow MT CCers! :)
I was hoping that some of you who are from the Cincinnati area, or who may have knowledge about the area, could share your thoughts on the training/performance opportunities there.
We lived in the Cincinnati area when my D was in kindergarten, and she actually took classes (Improv and Young Actors' Toolbox) from the CCM prep department. Back then at that age we had no idea that MT would be something that would stick for her, and we also had no idea how lucky she was to be able to take classes there at such a young age.
Fast forward to today and we are potentially facing a work-related geographic relocation, and Cincinnati is on our list of possible cities. My D attends a high quality PA school now and would hate to have to give up the kind of training she is currently getting. I know there is a PA high school there in Cinci...does anyone have any thoughts/experiences they'd be willing to share either on this thread or in a private message? We would also be open to her attending a regular high school with an outstanding theatre department, or even online school if there were enough outside opportunities for performance and training. What about experiences with the CCM Prep Department's Musical Theatre Intensive (the year-round one, not the summer immersion program)? Are there any high quality youth or children's theatres in the area that provide training and/or well-produced shows? Again, a move is neither definite or immediate, but I'm a planner and like to know what I'm getting into well before I actually have to begin it!
Any and all information you may have would be very appreciated and so helpful. And again, please feel free to PM me if you'd rather your comments be private.
Thanks in advance! :)

Programs that don't allow freshmen to perform
Question for the experts.....D and I have been having the conversation about programs that restrict freshmen from performing. What are the general thoughts and feelings out there on this topic?

Belmont University Musical Theatre
Hi! Has anyone been in this program and can share any and all information? My daughter liked what she saw but I have heard from 2 sources that once in, it's not that great and people transfer out. Any idea why? The good, bad and all in between please. She is auditioning for the BFA so I would like to hear what thoughts are on that as well. SHe has been accepted to the BM already and would be entering as a freshman Fall 2017.
Thank you!

University of Montevallo's BFA program... the good, the bad and the ugly
My D has rec'd an offer for the BFA program and for many reasons, it's a strong contender. I need to know if anyone else has had experience with the school. Ready, set, go! (Thank you)

HELP! Looking for Schools that are still auditioning/accepting video auditions
Hi there! Sorry for the drama. I was in a musical theatre program for the fall semester, but withdrew for personal issues with the program and I am currently looking for places that I can still apply and audition at. I know it's somewhat late in the game, but I did manage to apply and already have auditioned at OCU, Wichita State, and I have an upcoming audition for MSM. If anyone knows or has suggestions of schools that still have audition dates or that are accepting videos please let me know! I've been doing my own research, but I figured it couldn't hurt to post here.

The Performing Arts Project
My D just got an invite to apply through Acceptd and I wondered if they were just contacting everyone who signed up for the Be Discovered section. Also, does anyone have experience at this program?

Summer Stock
Hey y'all! I'm a current MT freshman and everyone in my class is going crazy over summerstock auditions. I'm applying for Strawhats and I plan on auditioning at several open calls in NYC (I already attend school here). I'm also hoping to do video applications/auditions for a few. This process is 10000X more terrifying to me than the college audition process, so I wanted to start a forum where current college students/graduates/their parents share their personal experiences with auditioning for summerstock theatres! (There are a few older forums on this but I just wanted to make an updated one). So if anyone has any thoughts, stories, advice, etc. on this process PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share!
I personally am wondering if anyone has attended any open calls in NYC, and what those were like? It's so intimidating to me because most of the open/non-equity calls are the day after EPA and ECC auditions and I feel like a baby. Hoping someone has some insight on this!

LIU Post's MT Program?
I recently got accepted to LIU Post's musical theatre program after my walk-in audition at NYC Unifieds! It was my most enjoyable audition yet, and I felt like the students and admissions people who were there were all very close and very excited about the school! Many other kids that I talked to who had auditioned also commented that they felt like the auditor was very interested them as a unique individual, and I would agree with that. The auditor was actually the only one I have met who actually stood up and shook my hand before I started! I'm interested in the program, but I don't know much about it! Does anyone here feel like they could give an overview of the program or even share their opinions about it?

In the Northeast any wonderful non audition safety's
Hi !
My D is a Junior. We are approaching this insanity. My daughter had a lesson at Shelter Studios in NY last weekend where some Unified's were happening. Seeing the gorgeous girls and hearing amazing voices through the door kind of freaked us both out. We are using MTCA selectively. My D is interested in strong acting as well as MT, is a dancer/actor, the singing is good
but not yet where these voices were. I really want to make sure we have one or two great choices that are strong safety's that are theatre/non audition. She is a strong student but hates academics and wants a life in the performing arts. This is scary stuff. Thank you : )

On Campus vs Unifieds
I've been reading lots on here and enjoying following the journeys of all. My D is a Junior and we are working with MTCA.
My question is this (It's likely been covered before ) but...
Unifieds sound like a blast for a certain kind of kid. My daughter is an actor/dancer/singer in that order. She will be auditioning for Acting BFA's and MT's as well but she is the kind of person who likes space and paces herself and though saving money will be an issue I worry that it sounds a bit chaotic and stressful. If most of your schools are a drivable distance is it better to do on Campus? I know it depends on the kid but do you think the faculty feel more at home on their own turf??
I guess I am asking is there an advantage to either ? Aside from saving money and hitting more schools. Might the auditors feel more relaxed and less bombarded in an on Campus audition?

Cornell College...student body?
My daughter was recently accepted to Cornell College. She hasn't visited yet but loves the one class at a time concept. Can anyone describe the social vibe, typical student at Cornell? Liberal? LGBT friendly? Any and all info is greatly appreciated!

Plymouth State University??
Anyone know anything about Plymouth State University's Music Theatre program? Or even just opinions about the school in general? I'm thinking of going for their late audition for their music theatre program because I got rejected from all of my other ones. Anything would help :) Thanks a lot.
